ABOUT THE COMPANY
Yes, there really is a Sam Moore behind the Sam Moore Furniture company. In 1940, a young man from Pennsylvania turned his back on the family business (which was undertaking) and decided he could make a better chair... an affordable better chair. And he did.
The original Sam Moore chair was a barrel chair with a channel back and solid mahogany frame that sold for $39. Over 3 million Sam Moore chairs were sold between ’43 and ’73!
Fast forward to today. Sam Moore Furniture now occupies a 300,000 square foot facility in Bedford, Virginia. The company was acquired in 2007 by the Hooker Furniture Corporation and continues to produce affordable, better chairs... just as Sam Moore intended.
